DC 4th of July Fireworks |
1. The fireworks in DC are probably some of the best in the United States, and are certainly worth checking out if you’ve never seen them before. Although I forcefully told my boyfriend and a few friends that I did NOT want to see them this year (solely because it is a complete parking and commuting nightmare to get to the mall to watch them), I would happily suggest this activity as a DC tourist must-see (along with the other festivities that go on all day at the mall).
2. Hit up a festive BBQ (I am embarrassed to suggest this, but hey, it IS BBQ: www.oldglorybbq.com), rooftop deck (be careful… pointofviewdc.com), pool party (for those open to different types of pool parties…capitolskyline.com), or just make some traditional picnic-esque food that screams “I LOVE AMERICA!”. Nothing says “Happy 4th” like yummy food, a pool, and a rooftop deck that lends the chance to see the DC fireworks.
3. Set sail on the (lovely) Potomac River for a boat ride, either on chartered or group tour (potomacriverboatco.com). If it’s a nice day, sail along the Georgetown Waterfront for some exquisite people-watching, and perhaps stop in to one of the local watering holes for a cold beer.
Festive Hot Dog! |
** I think this covers the general 4th of July activities for the District of Columbia, so I hope you were able to get out and enjoy one, if not all, this year! If not, well, there’s always next year!!
